THE VILLAGE AT GULFSTREAM PARK RECEIVES A SILVER U.S. MAXI AWARD
Industry’s top marketing honor representing the highest caliber of marketing excellence
Hallandale Beach, FL – April 7, 2011 – The Village at Gulfstream Park is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a Silver U.S. MAXI Award, the industry’s highest marketing honor awarded by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). This award represents the highest caliber of marketing excellence and exemplifies collaboration, execution and achievement within the retail real estate industry.
The Village at Gulfstream Park won its award in the Grand Opening, Expansion and Renovation category, which recognizes and honors a comprehensive campaign intended to introduce or reposition a new, expanded or renovated shopping center, for its “Food. Fashion. Mojo.” grand opening campaign. The campaign conveyed the center’s offerings: dining, shopping, and that exotic something extra that is almost indescribable. Opening events spanned three days and included a ribbon-cutting with local dignitaries; a private preview party honoring VIP donors to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital; a “Carnivalia” show featuring fireworks, stilt-walkers, and dancers in festive costumes, as well as Gulfstream Park jockeys and horses on hand for free photos. The Village at Gulfstream Park is owned by Forest City Enterprises and MI Development and is managed by Forest City Commercial Management.
“It is a true honor to be the winner of a Silver U.S. Maxi award,” said Jeannie Roberts, marketing director at The Village at Gulfstream Park. “The fact that our grand opening campaign was recognized by the ICSC really speaks to the superior level of expertise and dedication demonstrated by everyone involved in our ‘Food. Fashion. Mojo.’ campaign and we are very thankful for our dynamic team.”

The Village at Gulfstream Park would also like to extend gratitude and recognize the following partners and professionals who played a vital role in the launch of their successful grand opening campaign: Carolyn Feimster of CJF Marketing International, the Village’s tourism representative who helped to develop and implement a variety of programs targeting domestic and international visitors; Judy Penny, Principal and Creative Director of Think Penny, an advertising and design firm based in Miami, Florida. Think Penny created the grand opening “Food. Fashion. Mojo.” campaign and helped launch the brand in south Florida; Kelly Pyper and Sarah Johnson of Pyper, Paul and Kenny, a media planning and buying agency based out of Tampa, Florida that assisted in developing an effective media plan for the campaign; and Scott Laslo, Vice President and General Manager of The Village at Gulfstream Park, who played a significant role in orchestrating the grand opening efforts.
