Hallandale Beach, Fla. – December 9, 2009 – With just two months to go until the Grand Opening on Thursday, February 11, 2010, The Village at Gulfstream Park announces “Carnivalia,” a Grand Opening of weekend celebrations, in addition to eight new retailers that will join the lineup of upscale fashion boutiques, home accessory shops, signature restaurants and nightclubs.
Grand Opening festivities will officially begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, when Mayor Joy Cooper and city commissioners lead the ribbon cutting celebration and shoppers are officially welcome to South Florida’s new Main-street style shopping and entertainment destination. Entertainment and street fair will continue throughout the day, leading up to an exceptional Grand Opening show for the public at 6:30 p.m. As the sun sets the Village will heat up as the sights and sounds of Carnivalia, from samba to salsa, meringue to mambo, fill the streets in a one-of-a-kind celebration. The night’s entertainment will bring a selection of performers and musicians from a diverse Latin American palette and larger-than-life specialty performers dressed in elaborate Carnival style costumes parading through the streets. Forest City Commercial Development and Magna Entertainment Corp. will also make a special presentation to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital during the event.
On Friday, February 12, The Village, Gulfstream Park and Greenhouse Nightclub will host a free music celebration and street festival for the public. Street Fair characters will permeate the center throughout the weekend, as local musical talent, balloon sculptors, magicians and other entertainers keep the Grand Opening excitement going. Individual retailers have other activities planned to add to the festive weekend filled with South Florida style.

- Jacob’s Classic Market: A premiere, full-service specialty food store.
- Liapela Modern Baby: Features high-end, modern baby products.
- Martier Lingerie: Offers luxury, designer lingerie.
- Yardhouse: Upscale casual eatery known for its extensive menu, classic rock music and world’s largest selection of draft beer.
