Proceeds to Benefit Haitian and Chilean Relief Efforts
HALLANDALE BEACH – On Saturday, March 13, and Sunday, March 14, The Village at Gulfstream Park will host Shop for the Cause, a unique philanthropic shopping experience benefiting earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti and Chile. Visitors to Hallandale Beach’s newest shopping and dining destination will be able to soak in the cultures of Haiti and Chile all while enjoying the best The Village at Gulfstream Park has to offer. Shoppers are encouraged to present receipts from any store or restaurant at The Village at Gulfstream Park to Guest Services, located in Champions Plaza, where they will receive a FREE eco-friendly tote bag and their receipts will be tallied for the cause.
The weekend’s donation will be divided to benefit both Haiti & Chile. Ten percent of receipt totals from Saturday will be donated to the American Red Cross - Haiti Relief Fund, and ten percent of Sunday’s total receipts will be donated to the American Red Cross – Relief Efforts in Chile.
Events reflective of Haitian and Chilean culture are planned for the public’s enjoyment throughout the weekend. Interactive activities the entire family can enjoy include jewelry beading, making and decorating musical instruments and painting. Activities begin at 12:00 p.m. each day in Champions Plaza. The afternoons will really sizzle with live music beginning at 3:00 p.m. daily. On Saturday, guests will be wowed by the beats of MaWon, a collaboration of artists that play a wide range of rhythms with Traditional Haitian Roots. On Sunday, the Chilean sounds of the Rodolfo Troncoso Trio, led by famed classical guitarist Rodolfo Troncoso, will have the public swaying to a blend of classical and Latin American Styles.
